  • Well, I'm back at school

but I don't have my digital camera with me.  It disappeared the last week I was at home.  So I will find old interesting pictures to put up.  Tanner and I had a safe drive down.  We drove through the night, which got interesting, but made it here in under 16 hours including stops.  Everything's going smoothly so far unpacking and getting in the storage unit.  Next big thing coming up: planting sweet corn in my windowsill. I've got high expectations.  For your viewing pleasure, here is a snapshot of the bathing facility on my floor.  These showers have the highest pressure you can find south of Niagra Falls.  You gotta check them out sometime.

  • Back to...

    School Awesome!

So it is now the last two days before I leave for my senior year of college.  For the third year in a row I am trying to bring less stuff to school.  How is it that we accumulate so much stuff that we can't pack it into a large car?  I don't even have any furniture.
Tanner and I will be driving through the night on Tuesday and getting to school sometime Wednesday afternoon.  I'm so stoked to see everyone when I get back.  I went to Brad and Liz Boyce's wedding yesterday.  It's hard to believe how many of my peers are tying the knot.  Exciting times.
Well, on to packing.  Do the wool swim trunks still fit...

  • Blogging on the run

So I am at Best Buy checking out laptop computers, and I discovered that they had an EeePC sub notebook. It is a very tiny laptop with a 7” screen. Yes, I know that is almost the size of your cell phone, but it’s pretty sweet. I even took a picture of myself with it as you can see below.  The keyboard is tiny, so to see if it would be a big problem typing (slowing me down) I went online and took a typing test.  I still managed to get a solid 30-35 wpm at 91% accuracy averaging a few trials.  Anyway, I've been playing with this computer for a half hour, so I will close this post and move on.

  • Ah, a return to the ol' web logging industry...

Yes, indeed, it has been a while.  14 months apparently, looking at my last post date.  Things have been good, very good, which means I should have a good bit more to talk about.  That doesn't mean I will, but I can dream.

Currently I am taking two summer courses: a four week course over CS Lewis' works, and an eight week online course in psychology.  CS Lewis is amazing, as is psychology, but the classes themselves are a bit lacking.  Regardless, I am learning a lot and sharpening my cognitive skills.  Woo hoo.

I will be returning to Michigan the first week of June and staying until the middle of August.  At that time I will be returning to LeTourneau to get ready for RA stuff on my floor during my senior year.  Graduating in four years with degree in mechanical engineering.  Oh yeah!

To keep my posts exiting, I try to always include a picture.  The picture below is an oil pastel on canvas that I entered in the fine arts competition this spring at school.

  • Greece!

It was awesome.  Two and three course meals every evening, driving through the mountains, olive trees by the millions, coastlines, ancient sites, Biblical sites, a high-voiced wonderful tour guide; tons of information to try to absorb in preparation for an exam over the whole trip got a little overwhelming.  A lot of fun people came on the trip. I'll try to give some more detail later, but pictures tell tons more than words, so here's some highlights.

  • Mustache Madness

So thanks to some influence from the brothers at Grace College, a group of us guys on my floor went unshaven for the month of February, followed by a day of only mustaches.  Girls gave us mixed responses including some complimentary, and some more on the lines of calling us molesters.  They must have had a bad experience as a child.  Sad day.  Thursday at noon I hop on a bus to the Dallas airport where about 25 of us from LeTourneau will be boarding a plane to cross "the pond."  A whole week of learning and tourism through the country of Greece, focusing on Biblical sites and Ancient Greece.  I will be getting 3 credits of upper level Bible electives for the trip (and some tests and papers related to our trip).  I'm not sure that I am ready to go; I feel quite unprepared, but Thursday is coming fast anyway.  I'll be gone March 8th-18th.  Well, I think I'll go get ready to go to church.  I have been going to Crossroads Community Church for about a month now.  I have really gotten to like it there.  They've got something good going there.  I haven't put a finger on it exactly, but they are very family and community focused, and there are a lot of children running around all over the place.  That last part by itself might be the one getting me.  I love hanging out with my little siblings, and it's kinda like seeing them.  Have a great week,
    Tim

  • IBC, Yogurt, and Animal Crackers

I was blessed this week to receive a gift card from my awesome church in Otsego, MI (First Baptist)  for Valentine's Day.  I really wasn't expecting it, and it made my week.  In celebration, I went to Sam's Club and bought a case of yogurt, a five pound box of animal crackers, and 72 IBC bottled Root Beers.  The IBC's I'm selling on my floor for a small profit, I don't plan on drinking them all, in fact, I think there are probably 20 gone already, sold.  Yeah.  Also this week, I got an item on ebay I had been watching for a while, Stock Market Game, a classic 1968 Whitman boardgame.  I'm pretty excited for it to come, as are several guys I've been talking to about the game.  I hope you have been able to enjoy some rest this weekend.  God bless,
    Tim

  • Dynamics Project

A large amount of my time this semester is dedicated to working on a human powered water distiller, by boiling.  We have reached our first milestone of getting the back wheel off the ground. We will be use the back wheel to turn a motor to create electricity, then use the electricity to heat up an element and boil water.  Crazy!  I've made the decision to assume the role of Peer Advisor for another year here at LeTourneau.  Well, back to the books.  I have a goal of having at least one completely free Sunday without any homework this semester.  I really would like to use Sunday as a day of rest, but I haven't reached that point yet.  Have an awesome day!
